About Us

Derringer Friday : Business as Pleasure

Derringer Friday was started in the spring of 2010 by two friends expatriated in Washington, DC from Athens, GA. We make traditionally male clothing: ties and squares for now, with more soon to come.

All of our products are made by hand in the District of Columbia. We're proud of our methods and our city.

As naturally dandified southerners-in-exile, we used to dream of having clothes which accommodated the protocols of the workplace whilst honoring our preference for expressive colors, patterns, textures, and details. We could never quite find what we sought, and so DF was born.

We appreciate today's more casual workplace, because it gives men and women of sartorial discretion the option of distinguishing themselves.

We're less thrilled with the notion and existence of "going-out" attire, as it rests on the premise that one is uncomfortable in one's working apparel and therefore needs to spiff up for a night on the town.  We believe that what the best-dressed man wears to work will serve him best of an evening, and that an air of casual formality is the best social asset.  Whether at work or play, Derringer Friday helps you keep them guessing, "is he coming or going?"

In short, we give enough of our lives to our work. Why suffer through it in bad clothes?
